Comment-Aware Review

Last updated: July 1, 2026

Ivo can now see counterparty comment bubbles during a review and factor them into its recommendations. This means Ivo does not just respond to redlines in the body text: it reads the comments too, and can suggest changes and replies based on what the counterparty has written in their comment threads.

How it works

When you run a Redline Review, Ivo automatically reads any comment bubbles in the document. Based on those comments, Ivo will:

  • Suggest redlines to the body text in response to counterparty comments, even if the counterparty has not made a direct edit to that text

  • Suggest comment bubble replies to counterparty comment threads

  • Factor comment context into a Risk Flag review, just as it does with redlines

There is no need to tell Ivo to consider comments. It will do so automatically.

What Ivo understands about comments

Comment authors. Ivo uses the email domain associated with each comment to determine whether it came from your team or the counterparty. This allows it to focus its review on counterparty comments specifically. Note that author identification depends on email domains being available in the document, which is not always the case.

Comment threads. Ivo can read full comment threads and understands when earlier points in a thread have been subsequently addressed or closed. It will not revisit comments that are no longer open.

Your own comments. Because Ivo reasons about comment authors, it will treat comments from people who share your email domain as coming from your side. If you are testing this feature, use anonymous comments or a separate account to avoid Ivo treating your test comments as counterparty comments.

How suggested comments are applied

When you accept a suggested comment reply, Ivo will insert it as a reply in the relevant comment thread where appropriate. It may also appear as a top-level comment bubble depending on context.

Tips for best results

  • Resolve or remove comment bubbles that are no longer open points before running a Review. This helps Ivo focus on what is still live.

  • Suggested comment responses may appear as either top-level comments or replies, depending on context.
