What is Review 2.0?

Last updated: April 14, 2026

Review 2.0 is a major upgrade to Ivo’s contract review experience and the biggest product update since Intelligence. It replaces the rigid, checklist-based structure of Review 1.0 with a more flexible, AI-native approach that reviews agreements more like an experienced lawyer would, by considering the full contract, your playbook, and your deal context together.

Why We Rebuilt It

Review 1.0 helped teams bring structure to contract review, but it was built at a time when AI models needed much more rigid instructions to perform reliably. To make that possible, every playbook position had to be broken into precise checklist items and reviewed separately.

That approach worked, but it also created limitations for customers:

  • Large playbooks could become harder to manage because each checklist item required its own evaluation

  • Related issues could surface as multiple separate recommendations, creating extra noise in the output

  • The review could not always account for the full agreement and broader deal context at the same time

  • Positions that were not relevant to a particular contract could still appear in the review

  • Playbooks had to fit a more rigid format, which made it harder to capture nuanced internal standards

Review 2.0 was built to solve those problems and deliver a clearer, more context-aware review experience.

What’s New in Review 2.0

Holistic review

  • Instead of evaluating one checklist item at a time, Review 2.0 evaluates the agreement as a whole alongside all relevant playbook positions. That means you get one clear, consolidated recommendation per issue, rather than multiple disconnected flags tied to the same clause. It also means irrelevant positions can be automatically marked as not applicable, reducing noise in the review.

Positions replace checklist items

  • Review 2.0 replaces checklist items with positions. Positions can be written in plain language and can include nuance, fallbacks, exceptions, and edge cases in one place. This gives your team a more natural and flexible way to reflect your legal standards inside Ivo.

Multiple playbooks in a single review

  • You can now run multiple playbooks at the same time in a single review. Review 2.0 consolidates overlapping recommendations into one unified output, so your team can focus on resolving issues instead of sorting through duplicates.

Deal Context informs the full review

  • In Review 2.0, Deal Context shapes the full review experience. It influences how positions are applied, which fallbacks are surfaced, and which positions are marked not applicable, helping produce recommendations that are more tailored to the specific agreement in front of you.

Smarter fallback selection

  • Fallbacks are selected based on the contract and deal context, rather than being applied in a one-size-fits-all way. That helps Ivo deliver recommendations that are more relevant and practical for your team.

Automatic N/A detection

  • Positions that do not apply to the agreement being reviewed are automatically marked as not applicable. This helps reduce unnecessary flags and makes it easier to focus on the issues that matter.

Why It Matters

The biggest change in Review 2.0 is that contract review is no longer treated as a series of isolated checks. Instead, it works as a more unified reasoning process that reflects how legal teams actually review agreements.
