Preserving Manual Edits When Updating an AI Field

When you update the prompt or data type of an AI field, you now have the option to keep any values that have been manually edited rather than overwriting them. Changes to AI fields are also tracked in the Audit Log.

How it works

When you edit the prompt of an AI field or enable rich HTML extraction, a toggle will appear giving you the option to Overwrite manually edited values.

  • If the toggle is off, any values that have been manually edited will be preserved and will not be re-extracted.

  • If the toggle is on, all values including manually edited ones will be overwritten with new extractions.

The toggle is off by default, so manual edits are protected unless you actively choose to overwrite them.

Note: If you change the data type of an AI field, all values will be re-extracted regardless of this setting.

How to update a field while preserving manual edits

  1. Navigate to Repository and go to your AI Fields settings.

  2. Open the AI field you want to update.

  3. Make your changes to the prompt or enable rich HTML extraction.

  4. Leave the Overwrite manually edited values toggle off to preserve any manual edits.

  5. Save your changes. Only values that have not been manually edited will be re-extracted.
