Using the Assistant feature

The Assistant feature allows you to ask natural language questions about the contract you're reviewing, generate redlines, pull in data from multiple sources, and receive AI-driven, citation-backed responses — all without leaving Word. You can use it to check for specific obligations (e.g., “Does this agreement contain an auto-renewal?”) or to draft new contract language (e.g., “How would I add termination for convenience?”).

To use the Assistant feature:

  1. On the home page, click into the text box above Review.

  2. On the bottom left of the text box, select whether you would like to direct this question to the full document or just a selection of the text. To ask a question about a specific portion of the document, make sure you highlight the relevant section. Alternatively, if you have a general question about the whole document, ensure that no part of the document is selected.

  3. You can then type your inquiry and click the arrow icon to the right of the question field at the bottom of the Ivo window.

  4. Ivo will respond with a response to your inquiry.

5. You can also click on a source to navigate to the relevant passage in the document that addresses your question.
